Fortunately, I've found a few alternatives to Animate CC already, and some of them are free!! Or is it? I'm searching for other programs that can do frame-by-frame, tweening, vectors, scripting, and HTML/SWF compatability. I want to quit the entire Creative Cloud thing, but Adobe Animate seems unrivaled among animation software.

The "Adobe CEF Helper" executes at random times and uses up a big chunk of RAM(!!) The CC file storage feature has stopped syncing properly to my online storage, so it's basically useless and I've switched to OneDrive. There are also four other Creative Cloud programs which constantly run and I have no idea what their purpose is. There are just too many useless features included in the Animate software, and all I really need is something to make SWF or HTML, with basic script coding.Ĭreative Cloud also forces other programs on my computer, like a worthless media encoder (2.6GB!!), and an updater application which is constantly running in the background for no reason. This could be blamed on my slow computer, but I use a lot of other programs which don't cause any problems for me. Animate is laggy, and the autosave feature causes the program to buffer every ten minutes. (To compare, FireAlpaca is about 100MB.) The apps also use a ton of processing power, and keep freezing my computer. Photoshop takes up over 1GB of memory on my computer, and Animate is over 2GB. This is only part of the problem, though. So basically, I'm paying a large fee every year just to make random SWFs. Nowadays I don't use Photoshop anymore and I use Animate for making random SWFs instead of drawings. I didn't really know any alternatives to those two things when I signed up. For a while I've been subscribed to Adobe's Creative Cloud service, mainly to have access to Adobe Flash (now called Animate) and Photoshop, both of which I used for drawing.
